Horse Back Pilates

Fantastic Plank - the consistent classes pay off. This is what life is all about - getting out    and keeping active. Pilates can help you enjoy the great outdoors too.

Much has been written on the huge benefits of Pilates practice in the equestrian world. Riding, due to positioning on the horse can lead to tight hip flexors and as a result an increased lordosis/curvature in the lower back. This in turn reduces core strength. Regular, consistent practice in Pilates including key moves specific to strengthening riders has multiple benefits for both rider and horse. Core strength will not only improve your posture and reduce back ache in riding but fundamentally it will increase balance and control in the rider. Which means you can give clear, precise communication to your horse.
